I am eager to see how this is going to work. If books can be delivered wirelessly to the Kindle, that would be so awesome. No messing around with Adobe, please!

You know, the coming of Overdrive was a key point in me choosing Kindle over Nook when I bought it a couple of months ago.  But now, I have so many books I've gotten for free or cheap on my Kindle, and there are so few books on Overdrive that I'm interested in, I probably will never use Overdrive!  Crazy.

Same here.

Between the freebies, the deals I got when I started collecting ebooks, the series I do buy as they come out and the thousands of fanfic stories I've collected over the years, I haven't even bothered with Overdrive.

Good to hear that Kindle is going to join as well, as a lot of people will enjoy the option. Although I have seen on another forum where current borrowers are a bit worried the wait times for ebook loans will be longer, with a ton of new people coming in. That realy could be a lot of people!

Lines dont mean much!  Like WL lines on here!  When they actually get posted you sometime have to go thru several people Before you get takers!   I Was 100+ for the New Stephanie Plum series!  Within in a very few weeks I was #1  LOL  Remember also You can download the ebook & Return it!!  & STILL read it for the full amount of time you checked it out!  So Lines move Very Quickly in that way also!

I'm hoping that Amazon will really hold my hand and help me out with library books. I have the card for the Free Library of Philly but its kind of hard to navigate, especially when you have misplaced your login info. If they can't make it really easy for me, then I won't bother with it.

Are you Barbara or Katie? lol. I saw your post on the MR forum. I think you'd do better if you put an asking price up.

Amazon has mentioned that soon they might be doing away with being able to return ebooks. I believe they are looking at a 24hr return only policy due to people reading then returning ebooks. Publishers are complaining about it.

I have the card for the Free Library of Philly but its kind of hard to navigate, especially when you have misplaced your login info.

well, if you can't find your login info, you can't check out any of the books.  so finding that would be the first step.  :)  i know i got an actual card when i signed up with my user # on it, so if you don't know your # perhaps you can find that card to get it.  if you click on the 'Access your account online" link, there is another link to email you your PIN if you've forgotten it.

my 'home' page for the FLP is http://freelibrary.lib.overdrive.com/FEE7C8AC-56E5-4FA4-8535-01319A4EE8A9/10/381/en/default.htm which always takes me a while to find if i'm not at home with my bookmarks.  but you can get to it from the main library home page, then click on the Download Media button (bright pink at the moment), then the Overdrive link.

and incidently, i noticed doing that at my mom's house that FLP has now added Freegal (which i already had access to through another library), which lets you download music mp3's, and it's my understanding that as the library's already paid for you to download it's yours to keep. woo!  since my sister just moved to Philly, only a couple of blocks from a branch, she was delighted when i saw that and told her.  :)

then from the Digital Media home, you can use Advanced Search to look for something specific, and if you check back on the 'new ebook additions' link regularly, you can keep track of what's been added, just sort by date added.

i've got four library systems that i can to Overdrive through, and FLP definitely has the best selection.  it'll be cool when they add Kindle.  i do keep a file on my computer with a list of the library card #s so i can just copy & paste into the login screens when needed.  i think i have books checked out from all four at the moment - a first for me.

Amazon has mentioned that soon they might be doing away with being able to return ebooks.

i don't mind a 24 hour limit, but i sure hope they don't do away with it completely.  i'd probably just have to stop browsing via my Kindle, since the only accidental purchases i've made were when i accidently clicked Buy instead of More when looking at a book description from the Kindle.

I do know where my card is, so that is a start. I will try to access my account sometime today, using the link you provided.

I think he was about 14. He had bad hips and couldn't walk anymore. But what killed him was drinking too much water one night and got bloat.

This is my 1st time in this forum or any chat on PBS.  What is the Amazon Forum and how does that affect us Kindle users?  I have only read a couple of books on Kindle, but must admit I kind of like the convenience, just not the prices and restrictions on lending to others.  So, I'm torn...just trying to find more info...

The Amazon Forum is probalby at Amazon. Mobilereads is another web site that has various forums for ebook news, freebies, and various devices have their own forums. I hang out there a lot for breaking news and hack information.

If you can't find an answer here, sometimes going to another forum helps. But for some this forum is a good place to start with newbie questions. I have two Sony's, 1 Kindle, 1 Kobo, and IPad and an iPhone. Plus I've been reading on various electronic devices and collecting ebooks since about 1995.

So if you have any question, ask away. If we don't know, we may know where you can find out.

I can't wait to be able to borrow books from the library on my kindle!  I have a Sony too but the kindle changes pages faster and I like being able to download via wi-fi.

but then I have so many books and I have downloaded so many free books from Amazon that I don't know if I'll need the library's service!
