This biography of Huey P. Long, is full of detail in the Louisiana politician's rise to power and ultimate death, but short on details of how he imposed his will. White writes statements saying Long "forced" his opponents to pass his legislation, but doesn't go beyond that. The book remains fascinating reading, not in the least as it demonstrates how little the dirty business of politics has changed over the decades.

Heard of this man long ago. He was even more surprising in his rise all the way to the Senate. Mayor Daly of Chicago has nothing on this guy!
