This was fascinating story concerning WWII I had heard nothing about.very well written, one of the few books I have read, that was hard to put down. It took me so much into what the king was experiencing, the terrible stress he endured loving all of his people the Jews also. He had to deal with Hitler and his henchman wanting to exterminate the Jews, and getting Bulgaria more actively involved in the war, then the division in his own Cabinet and pressure from the church and the people. He left quite an impression on me. It was like he was walking with the devil and yet trying to keep him at bay.be careful of who you make an alliance with. I would heartily recommend this book.
