I received 3 books in the mail today that I don't have any record of ordering. None of them are listed in my 'books enroute to me', I don't have them written down in my own personal list that I keep of books I request, along with member name & nickname and date ordered. They are not a Box-O-Books swap. I checked the member directory and the person's name and address on the return address are not listed in the directory [apparently she chose not to list], I don't have her on my buddy list, my transaction lists, my  personal messages or confirmation list or any other list I can think to check. So I don't know how to contact her and see if she mailed the books to the wrong person, although the address label has my correct address, etc. It is a delivery confirmation label. Anybody have any suggestions as to what I should do next? I would keep the books, but I don't want the person not to get credit for mailing them. However I have no way of notifying PBS that I received the books since they aren't on my 'enroute to me' list. HELP!!

Does the label have a request ID number?  It would be on the return address.  If so, you can contact PBS on the bottom of the page for details on the transaction.

Contact the PBS team and give them the return address.  They can find the member for you and contact them.

I would search your transactions "cancelled by sender" and "by requestor".   I would contact PBS and give them her name, the date, the book names and ask them to look into the swap.    They will at least be able to shed light if it was a swap or not.  Do you participate in the game forums?  Was the address hand written or does it have the PBS wrapper?  Did you sign up to win a book from someone's blog?   Have you entered any book contests?  Should I ask some more questions :)

jubead,

already checked transactions, nothing there, no contests, haven't won anything, no game forums, label not hand written, but also not a typical PBS printed label/wrapper, USPS Media Mail delivery confirmation-tracking label, US Postage Paid..Pitney Bowes.

I'll try Sarah's suggestion and contact the PBS team. See what they can do.

Thanks for responses.

let us know how the mystery ends.

If there is a DC you can go to the USPS Website and track where it originated  -maybe that would give you a hint while you wait for PBS.

Shirley, when I search the forums for your nickname, I see that you often get deals in the Bazaar. Could it be is Bazaar deal like some freebies or something? I'd recommend looking back over any deals you requested and see if one of the senders match up. You can find all of the ones you've answered recently by doing a search of your nickname in the forums.

Otherwise, if it not a PBS label which would show a request ID on it, what is it on the package that tells you it is from PBS?

The mystery is solved!!  It was a BOB, but I didn't recognize it as such since the name of the sender was different than what her member name is and there was no indication on the return label that it was a BOB. Also there was no 'information for the receiver' included with the books to show where it came from.  A good reminder to always include something inside the package to show who sent it. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions.
