This isn't a priority question or anything, just my mind at work.

I requested Octagonal Raven by Modesitt after I read Parafaith War that had been on my dad's shelf and liked it.

The request timed out (apparently there was only 1 copy available).

The book is now on my WL (don't know if it'll stay there or not still thinking on that one).  I noticed that it says that the last posted book was 08-24-2010.  Does anyone know if this last posted book would be the one that timed out or would this be another book being tracked in the system?

No, that was the last transaction.  I don't think it would be timed out.

It's not the same transaction that has been timing out since 8/24/10.

I've been returned to the front of the WL line because I've received a RWAP. The Last Posted date doesn't reflect the RWAP transaction of which I was on the receiving end, but the one prior to that.

As for whether the person who received the copy around 8/24/10 is now reposting the same copy into the system, there's no way to know.

Hope this helps.

I think it only shows a last posted date if the receiver choosed to have PBS either add it their bookshelf on hold or the TBR Pile.  So it may have been posted several times since then and the date not registered because the receivers don't let it go on their bookshelf or TBR pile.  I add all books to my TBR Pile but I don't do the bookshelf hold one.  I don't want anything on there until I'm ready to trade it out.

I saw 15 paperbacks available , but no hardbacks available. Did you just want the hardback?

Thanks for the replies, that makes sense.  Always trying to figure out how something works.

"I saw 15 paperbacks available , but no hardbacks available. Did you just want the hardback?"

That's what I'm contemplating, originally nabbed the HB cause it was available and sounded interesting.  I've also since researched the author and found that they had a sequel to Parafaith Wars so I'm musing wether I want to find out if I just like all of their sci-fi (wasn't impressed with the fantasy they wrote, but that's not surprising), or just want to finish what appears to be a duology.
