I am finishing up a book that is on several members' WL.

This copy has seen better days, and I feel it is unpostable (but still totally readable).

Can I offer this unpostable as a freebie on the Book Bazaar, if someone takes something else from my shelf?  I've seen something similar done, but since this is a big WL book, I thought I should ask.

TIA.

most definitely!  just post what WL book you have and put in the body free with an order from your shelf.  someone will take it!

Yes - you just can't (counterintuitively) post it to the "post your damaged books here" sticky thread that is always at the top of the Bazaar.  I do wish that thread would be renamed.

Brent?? The Damaged Book Thread is there for members to post and request damaged, unpostable books for "no strings attached" I have sent and received many great books from that thread that would otherwise have been just tossed in the trash. The Damaged Book sticky thread is one of the highlights of PBS, in my opinion.

I think the damaged book thread is great -- I listed my last stash of unpostables there, because I needed more space urgently, and would rather the books had at least one more read.  However, I do think it would be helpful if the words "completely free" were put in the title somewhere, only to make it clear at a glance that this is where to post the books that you just want to give away, no "with an order from my shelf."

What's wrong with the book that makes it unpostable. If it's just a little beat up then it's ok to post as long as it meets the PBS guidelines.  If there's a long WL, most likely you'll get an order and a request for it  as a freebie pretty quickly.

The cover has a big "fold" in it.. and folded pages  (not just a few intentionally dogged eared pages, but where the corner have started to curl up)  and the edges and corners are all pretty bare.

Maybe it's still ok?

Sounds like it meets PBS guidelines to me (of course, I can't see the book, LOL!).

Just go to the Help Center and read through the guidelines and compare your book to the guidelines. That's what I do when I have a book that might be borderline. If someone wants better quality than the guidelines, the request should have a requestor condition stating so.

It might still be postable, what you listed doesn't make it unpostable.  The key is, would you spend a credit for the book?  If you think it is borderline it might be best to offer it as a freebie with an order
