I just started the first in the series and also have book#4. My question is do you have to read them in order or could each book stand alone?

I did not read them in order - I have read them all - loved it. I don't think you have to read them in order.

I did read them in order but I suppose you wouldn't have to.  There will be references to things and people from the books you've skipped though.

Each is stand alone but they do build on characters from previous novels. It's a personal preference - some people don't care and others need to read it in order (like me). Either way its a great series!

I read them all in order but im picky about that kinda thing. lol. You might run into characters that you havent met yet if you skip around, but if that doesnt bother you than go right ahead! Great series, i LOVE it!!!

She actually starts to use overlapping timelines after awhile, rather than each book picking up where the last left off. That said, I would read them in whatever order they come to you. It won't make much difference.

Thanks for the input everyone. That helps, I usually read series in order but only have two of this one so far.

I don't think I could stand to not read them in order, but as others have said... personal preference.

But lemme just ask you girls, wouldn't it be confusing to read them out of order... take for instance books 5 & 6 Cade & Rydstrom's (the demon brothers) stories ... doesn't Cade's book set the scene for why Rydrstrom is holding Sabine?  Maybe I'm just not remembering it correctly.  It's a mixed bag for me when it comes to the Wroth brothers (3 Vamp brothers)... Sebastion is hardly mentioned again.  But when you get to Conrad's book you would have learned a lot about him in the previous books.  I don't know.. I guess I'm "pro-order".

You really don't have to read them in order, but it does help follow a bit of the storyline with the background characters a little better. And if you enjoy the ones you have, I think you'll definitely want to read the rest of them. They're very addictive, this series! wink

I read them all in order and loved them but she does jump back and forth in time alot and even overlaps the timeline in the books.  I got confused on occasion but didn't really care. :)
