Just curious... has anyone tried any of these DVDs by Ana&Ravi? I was looking for a fresh workout dvd on Amazon and decided to get the Fat Free Yoga one based on the glowing feedback. After I ordered it, I noticed the discussions below mentioned that Amazon was deleting negative ratings! Then I saw a clip from Dancing the Chakras on YouTube and got a little scared. We'll see what happens when I get it.
Just wondering if anyone's tried any DVDs from this pair and your thoughts on them! |

Kundalini Yoga is one of the types of yoga I practice regularly, and Ravi and Ana's DVDs are my favorites. I have all of them, and do them regularly. They are simply wonderful instructors. That being said, Kundalini Yoga is not like the asana practices most people thing of when they think of yoga. You will find many poses/excercises that may be familiar to you from other types of yoga, but KY always puts a spin on them. Exercises are often done moving (KY can be quite invigorating). There is usually quite a bit of breathwork and breathing exercises, and KY focuses a lot on meditation and the more spiritual aspects of yoga during the physical exercises set itself than other types of yoga (which usually save breathing exercises and meditation for the end of the session). Ravi and Ana's videos, though are a terrific place to start. They are very user friendly, and although they do have a lot of meditation, there is certainly nothing too far out or scary there. Fat Free is a great DVD. Keep in mind that it is one of their older DVDs, so the production is not as slick as it is on the newer ones. Nevertheless it's a great place to start. The DVD is divided into sections, so you can do as many sections or as few as you choose. If you like it, I recommend trying Beginner & Beyond next. Ravi and Ana are very accessible. If you have questions, e-mail them. They respond quickly and are most helpful. I encourage you to try it with an open mind. KY can do wonderful things for you!! Good luck! Let us know what you think!

Hi, I also really enjoy Ravi and Ana's dvds. By the way, they have three new ones coming out later this month. Please just go at your own pace. I was intimidated by them also. Just go slowly, especially when you try the breath of fire-breathe lightly through your nose and make the inhale and exhales the same length. You do not have to do as many of them as Ana does, or perform them as quickly. Feel free to take breaks during the breath of fire and do long slow breathing instead.
Beginners and Beyond is a great one to start with. I also really enjoy Yoga Beauty Body and Dance the Chakras very much.
Take care, Sherry |

Thanks for the feedback on this. I'm now excited to receive my DVD in the mail. This sounds exactly like what I was hoping for. I've done other types of yoga, but sometimes it is too static for me. ive been looking for something that had a little more motion to it...especially since most of my other exercise comes from dance. I'm thrilled to hear that the instructors are really THAT good and are not simply victims of overmarketing and hype. My DVD should be coming in the mail tomorrow so I know what I'll be doing on Saturday morning! |

Erica,
I'm so glad you enjoyed the dvd. Which Fat Free one did you get? I mix up the titles. If you like to dance, Dance the Chakras has a wonderful yoga section, along with a fun dance section.
Take care, Sherry
