in a word-horrid. Why are these "chic lit" books-supposedly about strong, modern women-filled with such stupid women with obvious low self esteem? And all their lives seem to revolve around bar hopping and getting laid! I'd suggest you skip it.
Fast, fun pace and snappy dialogue...Overall I enjoyed this book although it isn't one of my favorites.
Personally, I like Cathy Yardley's characters because they are more realistically flawed than I expect. Sarah has moved to LA to live with her boyfriend Benjamin. Unfortunately, his promotion falls through and she's stuck there on her own. She finds a roommate, Martika, and comes to realize that Benjamin might not be the right man for her. She ends up going from one extreme to the other trying to find herself and eventually figures most of it out.
So far I've enjoyed all of the books I've read by Yardley--this one's no exception. A funny fast-paced novel on the ups and downs of single life in Los Angeles, this tale follows Sarah Walker as she moves from a small town in Northern California to the bright lights of LA and tries to shake off her persistent workaholic ex-fiance, Benjamin.
One of my favorite Red Dress Ink books!
From Red Dress Ink. Not the best chick lit book I have ever read...
With a little hesitation, I pick up chick lit because I have to be in the mood for light and fluffy. Although this quintessential chick lit, it had heart and soul that made it more than just a girlie read. A story centered around a girl who makes the decision to "follow" or rather move to a new city - L.A., where her long-term fiance is said to follow. Will he ever move and will they ever get married? The ultimate questions.
As a girl who has decided to move with a boy, it takes some courage, guts and many conversations to confirm that this is the best decision both for yourself and the both of you as a couple. Not recommended for everyone, but if done right, it can build a solid foundation. Off the soap box - I loved this book, even if I had to read it in mass market form!
A woman who's trying to leave the man who used her behind, moves to LA to start a new life.
I felt to old for this one. good if I was 20ish.
[Sarah Walker] just moved to L.A. and changed her whole life in anticipation of cohabitation with her fiance, Benjamin. But he stalls, again. Pushed to the limit, the stability-seeking Sarah snaps and actually finds herself dumping him. Now she's in free fall: no fiance, no job, no idea what to do next. According to her new roommate Matrika, Sarah is now in the perfect place to start life in LA.
Shameless chick lit
