It appears I am going to be able to sell the 50 credits allowed per month by Feb 15th. Unfortunately, I have more than that. If I continue as an A la carte member, will I still be able to use the "give credit" function? I will not be able to post in the book bazaar or PM members so I am trying to see if I can give credits in March if I figure out another avenue to contact members.

Thanks.

I've not seen any indication that the Give Credit function is going away with this change or that the PM function will be limited to Membership holders only. You would have the problem of not being able to tell anyone you have credits for sale since the Book Bazaar is the only place they can be sold.

Why not sell 10 and purchase a membership for a year with the proceeds?

Thanks for answering. If the "give credits" function stays, I have friends from PBS on FB so I could offer the credits that way and then gift them in March or after if they are interested.

I mostly use my e-reader and used the credits for my daughter.  The books she is interested in have such long wait lists we usually go to the library or used book store. I was on the wait list for books she already read that she liked so much she wanted to own a copy.  Sometimes it was more than a year.  I can't justify paying a fee at this point for this purpose.

Paying a fee to exchange available books that can take 2-3 weeks to get in this day of instant download just does not make sense either.

Christina, Would you be able to leave your account on vacation hold until you were able or interested in sending & receiving books again (not sure if it's feasible depending on how long you won't be able to swap)? Worth a thought. You could later choose to either start swapping again via a la carte or joining at one of the membership levels if you think you'll request more than 20ish books per year.

Christina - I was able to sell 50 of my credits. I have a couple of members to contact via email in March if I don't find books I want to order by the 15th of this month. You may want to obtain some alternative contact information such as email or FB from members to coordinate transfer in March. I have got yes and no answers to whether or not I can PM another member. Of course my whole plan only works if I have access to "give credits" to members. No one has been able to answer that question yet.

Good luck. If it helps, I am kicking myself too.  : )   I did feel better after I was able to sell the 50 though.

the question about pm'ing people is kind of confusing, I looked in the faq linked in the email, and it has a question at the top that mentions pm'ing and being a member, but the answer when you click on it doesn't mention pm'ing
