Not at all what I expected. I found this book to be pointless. There was very little background for the main character, Rosa Fiore. Her relationship with her first love is minutely detailed, I could not sympathize with her when she lost him. The book mainly focused on her "relationship" with her lover. Which, I found to be empty and completely physical. I grew wearisome of her cooking for every little bump on the road she came across. The author should of left out the "storyline", and made this into a cookbook. This book was a fast, but numb read.

A very off-beat book, rather like an Italian version of Like Water for Chocolate. Fast read, and most of the food sounds delicious.

I love this book. One can feel the steam in the kitchen, smell the baked goods, and enjoy the deliciousness of love given in full.

Although not mentioned on the swap list, her novel "Ardor" is hilarious.
