I just printed a label with PBS-DC and it came through as first class instead of media mail.  Does this make a difference?

TIA

Your book may be light enough for first class to be the best choice.  If not, simply cover the first class designation with while paper or a sticker (or simply mark it out with a Sharpie) and write media on it.

However, remember that if something is going first class and has DC, it needs to be a certain thickness (3/4 inch?).

Thanks Kristen,

I'll measure it and if its more than 3/4", I'll send it media.

Phyllis, your book must also be under 7 ounces, to qualify for the $2.15 first class rate.

Phyllis, actually it needs to be 3/4 inch or thicker to go first class with DC.  If it's skinner, you need to either send it media (even if it's a lightweight) or bulk up the package with bubble wrap or a peanut.

I'll bet there's a Help Center entry on this requirement.  Happy swapping!!

Kristen, does that  3/4-inch-or-thicker rule also apply to First Class without DC?

I don't believe so, Debbie, but I'm not incredibly knowledgeable about this.  I'm recalling a thread a while back in the postal forum that really delved into that 3/4 inch question.  Maybe you could do a search in that forum and see if you could find that thread?  I think some of the postal employees on the site weighed in and were very helpful.

Thanks for all the feedback.  I took it to the post office and had to pay  17 cents additional postage.  No problem, it was scanned right away.

Happy swapping to all of you also!!!!!!!!!!
