"Both comical and compassionate, The Ladies' Man has all of Elinor Lipman's trademark wit, wattage, and social mischief - with an extra bite. It confirms her appointment to the Jane Austen chair of modern American sensibility."

Enjoyable story about a woman, her two sisters and her ex who left her at the altar 30 years ago who returns to apologize (sort of). By the author of Isabel's Bed, the writing is full of dry humor and social commentary just beneath the words.

Harvey Nash shows up to apologize to Adele Nash for ditching her at the altar, unfortunately it is 30 years to late. This interesting story of a ladies man and how his return affects 3 "spinster" sisters is a sophisticated look at relationships and interplays of men and women.

Funny, as most Lipman books are. Characters that are strange, yet seem like very real people you could meet in life, and maybe sometimes would rather not!

Enjoyed it as I have the several others of hers I have read. They seem to start slow but soon have all your attention. Harvey Nash is a real piece of work!!!

Although I really like Elinor Lipman's books, this one wasn't my favorite. One of the main characters, Harvey, was just so sleazy I couldn't stand reading about him! The other characters and the setting were good, but Harvey left a real sour taste in my mouth.

This is a light, entertaining story and worth reading. I enjoyed every minute of it and it was a good break from some of the more serious books I've been reading.
