I got a little bogged down with the ineptness of the two ladies as they headed west on a wagon train, however, I enjoyed the happy ending of the story and plan to read the next two books in the series.

This is my 4th book by Susan Page Davis, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I wasn't sure Anne and Elise realized just had rough it would be as they begin the trek across the prairie to Oregon with a wagon train. Having not fared so well crossing the ocean, it takes Anne a while to get her stamina back. English ladies were ill prepared for months of roughing it on the trail. But they cope well without too many mishaps.

I love reading stories about wagon trains and the settling of our country. Looking forward to the next books in this series.

Lady Anne Stone and her maid set out to find her uncle in America after her father's death. When the search takes them on a wagon train totally unprepared for life on the prairies headed to Oregon, they learn new things about themselves and become stronger women. Finding love along the way for Anne's maid may also be part of the adventure.


The main characters were well developed and I especially liked Anne's feisty maid, Elise. The storyline was very good and there were enough twists and turns to keep my attention
