If you like to read about pioneer days, from a woman's viewpoint, this is a good one. It's a story that makes you want to keep reading. Quite politically incorrect, but interesting to see what was acceptable in a Pulitzer prize winner in 1933.

I enjoyed this book. Here's a quote, "Seen Carver was waiting on the steps for her men folks. Her eyes had seen the blur on the seat of the cart beside Vince; that must be a stranger to be fed and slept for the night--a stranger in a cloak."

Seen is the name of one of the characters.
