The book that I have has a different cover than the one depicted, but it is the same book. Melody Beattie reiterates the fundamentals of codependency recovery in this book of meditation. Even those who do not live with an addict can gain insight into relationships and their part in them.
This book was a key to getting my mind well enough to continue living...i was in a dark place when i picked up this book and started reading...one entry a day and i paired it with one chapter in my bible per day...God has moved in my life in ways i never imagined He would..this book helped me "let go" of the pain and hurt and depression in my life and opened me up to a brighter future...
The content and context of the text is just what I needed. Its daily format allows me to read small amounts to process the information. I would recommend it for people who are involved any form of recovery.

I have read used this devotional for several years and given it as gifts to friends. I feel both encouraged and challenged by the readings. It is appropriate for someone newly identified as co-dependent and for those who have worked for some time on this challenge.

Obviously this little book covers a very specific "flavor" of topic. And the little daily bites are just the right size to be a gentle reminder to yourself. They aren't all touchy-feely; nothing in the book is about blaming others, most of it is about You, and being responsible/accountable to You. But that quick reminder to focus on one aspect makes it easy to keep on track.
I actually went ahead and bought a copy to gift to friend.

What I especially love about this book is its format. It has a specific reading for each day and the content is heartfelt and helps you to understand what you may be going through from a perspective that allows you to move back a little and gain clarity around your issue. I also found the content very relatable; I could feel the author had experienced the same feelings in the same way. The best part is after you read the page for the day, at the bottom is an action/committment you can take to move you forward, out of feeling dis-empowered and into experiencing your own empowerment! This is what we truly need when we are feeling so overwhelmed with life. Taking action moves you out of inertia and starts you on the road to feeling good about yourself, putting you back in the drivers seat. There isn't anyone who could not benefit from this book if they really want to help themselves.
