I love her books. I had never heard of her until someone offered her books in the WL thread & was able to get it. I've read all her current books & can't wait for #6! :D If you haven't read her, you should. :P

Sadly that's what I'll be doing. I didn't know about her soon enough for #6.

I really like her, I like her more than J.R. Ward. They are straight forward without any confusing crap, they aren't getting more and more complicated. They storyline is progressing and changing and the romances are still there, and still a main thing.

I agree Ashley...the backstory lore and ever expanding cast of characters and subplots in some of the other books has made following some of the other series a test of my memory and a little bit of a chore at times:)

I had to buy #5 and I think I'm in the same boat for #6:lol:  I don't mind buying my keepers=)

This makes me think I should try #2 - I tried the first one and wasn't a big fan.  Do you find that you like them better as the books progress?  And I can't remember now why I decided I wasn't a fan - it was one of several first books in a series that I tried at the same time and passed it right along.

I liked them right away but everyone has their own reading tastes.   Most everyone here loves the Sooky Stackhouse books and the MJD Undead & books and I don't particularly care for them.  Don't know why...I read most of them as they first became published and weren't too well known but I don't even look for them or WL any of them anymore:lol:

I thought I was the only in in the whole universe that didn't like the Sookie series.  I just couldn't get past my dislike for Bill.  I'll have to try Lara Adrian because I really like J. R. Ward.

She wrote historical romance novels under the name Tina St John before she started this series.  Several of them have magic and shapeshifters.

Did you give up on Sookie while Bill was still...around alot? If so you should try them again. I hate Bill

I do think Lara Adrians get better as they go on, the bad guys aren't the same through all the books, they get worse and it gets more involved....but its not jumping around from one thing to the next.

Ashley,

Yeah I gave up on Sookie while Bill was still around a lot.  I don't know I just couldn't stomach him.  I usually will stick with books or series to see if they get any better and I know I should have tried longer but he just infuriated me to no end.  I wanted to strangle him.  Maybe I'll try later this year again and see how I do.

I've read two of her books.  The second and the third.  I really liked the third one and really disliked the second.  I may try another one some time, especially as so many others with similar tastes really like them.

For those wishing for book 1 use:

Kiss of Midnight (Midnight Breed, Bk 1)
Author: Lara Adrian

The one shown when you click on her name isn't the real ISBN.

Have to say I really enjoyed these books as well.  They aren't the best books out there, but they were a good read and I will probably buy the next one new when it comes out.  There are some elements that remind me of JR Ward, but these don't have the urban slang feel that BDB has.  For me, that's a good thing because I had trouble getting through some of the BDB books for that very reason.
