I just received a copy of a WL'd book. The ISBN on the book matches the ISBN in the listing for the book I wish listed and accepted to be mailed. The binding (paperback) is correct. However, the book I received is Large Print, even though that's not included in the book description. Is this considered a RWAP? Is it possible the book shares an ISBN with the regular sized print? Or do I send a message to the people who edit the book descriptions.

BTW, I'm not at all upset with the Large Print, just not sure how I handle this one. And when I do re-list it, do I have to list it any differently? Will someone try to ding me if I send them a LP book that's not acknowledged on the book description page?

Thanks!

I would type the isbn number into google and see what comes up, regular or large print. If the search only brings up large print copies then I would say it is an issue with our system not reflecting it is large print. If it brings up both then it may be an issue of the book type you received not being what you ordered, same as hard and soft covers had the same isbn.

I don't think it's an RWP.  The only 4 things that have to match are binding, ISBN, Author and Title.  But it would be nice to investigate if the ISBN was only used for large print.  Then you can submit a data edit-if you do give them the websites that show it as large print.

Thanks! I found it on Barnes and Noble, and on Amazon, listed as a Large Print. The other versions in paperback have a different publisher and different ISBN, as far as I can tell. I'll submit the information so the book data can be updated.

Usually the approvers want significant proof besides Amazon and BN that the ISBN is NOT available in the other print before they will change it. If you submit it, most approvers will research it to make sure. If there are other copies in the system, or a Wish List they need to make absolute certain that the book is only available in Large Print. I have seen a couple of posts on books being changed when the ISBN was available in both print sizes so hopefully a thorough approver will get your data edit.

A book listed as a Large Print would be a RWAP - Wrong Book if a regular print was sent. I do not believe that it goes the other way though and a book without the distinction can be either (kind of like "paperback" being for both MMP and trade size paperbacks).

From the Help Center:

Problem: you enter the ISBN on your book, and the listing that comes up does NOT say Large Print, but your book IS Large Print.

Explanation: This means that the publisher assigned the same ISBN to (at least) two different versions of the book.   At PBS, because each ISBN can be attached to only ONE version of a book, if you have the "other " version you need to enter it as if it does not have an ISBN.

Solution: Post this book with a customized listing for the book, using the Post Books without an ISBN link on the Post Books page, so that the Large Print status of your book is clear.

  • To make the book's Large Print status clear, you should
    • Put "(LARGE PRINT)" after the title on the Post a Book Without an ISBN page
    • Check the box for "Large Print" on that page

Problem: Title on the Listing Preview includes the words "Large Print" and your book is regular-font (NOT Large Print):

Explanation: This means that the publisher assigned the same ISBN to (at least) two different versions of the book.   At PBS, because each ISBN can be attached to only ONE version of a book, if you have the "other " version you need to enter it as if it does not have an ISBN.

Solution: Post this book with a customized listing for the book, using the Post Books without an ISBN link on the Post Books page, so that your book is not listed as Large Print if it is not Large Print.

Problem:  The Listing Preview has a "warning" pink box on it that says that the book is "Large Print" and your book is regular-font (NOT Large Print):

"This book is listed in the database as Large Print (16-point font size). If your book is NOT Large Print, you cannot use this listing to post your book.  If your book is NOT Large Print, Click here for more information."

Solution: Post this book with a customized listing for the book, using the Post Books without an ISBN link on the Post Books page, so that your book is not listed as Large Print if it is not Large Print.  If you "click here" the screens will help you post the book properly.
