If one of the books on my wishlist does not have "Last Posted:" listed under it, does it mean that the book has never been posted in the system? I would like to know, for then I can remove the book from my wishlist, and maybe buy it off Amazon. Thanks!

Arthi,

Nope - doesn' mean it won't be...and to be honest it does not mean that it hasn't been posted.

I have one: ISBN-13: 9781586648732 - ISBN-10: 158664873X - Book Type: Paperback
Wish Date: 10/12/2013 - Your position: 1 of 1 - Last Posted: 10/30/2006 - Estimate: N/A
I'm optimistic - any day now...

I have another: The Fuzzy Bunch: A Get Fuzzy Collection :: Darby Conley
ISBN-13: 9781449429393 - ISBN-10: 1449429394 - Book Type: Paperback
Wish Date: 10/16/2013 - Your position: 1 of 6 - Estimate: N/A (no Last Posted Date given)

I already received a copy thru PBS and gave it away to family member - wanted another - it's been posted here at PBS before but there's no mention of a LAST POST date like the book before it.

Some of this stuff is hit or miss...if you really want it and aren't in a hurry then add it to your WL - if you are really in a hurry, then find it on the internet and buy (unless the price is outrageous).  I have a few books I'd like to have and the Amazon price is 3 figures - ain;t gonna happen - it's on my WL and perhaps someday I'll get one for a book credit - if not then, meh!

PS - you might also double check to ensure there isn't a 2nd or 3rd ISBN for the same book - happens a lot.

if you are thinking of buying be sure to check abebooks. They sometimes have similar prices to amazon but sometimes they have smaller shipping charges.

Part of this is the data is removed from the system if the receiving member decides to not keep it on their bookshelf. If they select the No option, then the Last Posted is cleared.

This has to do with how the system was built, and the layers of data. The history of the software.

I understand what happens when the No option is selected, but does the same---Last Posted date cleared---occur if I simply remove the book from my bookshelf (because I've given it to a friend, for example)?

Thanks, Danny!

Whenever I'm close to reaching the limit for my wishlist, so I try to move books to an Amazon whishlist if I know it hasn't been posted in the system before.

Charles, thanks, I'll check abebooks out!

Emily, does that mean the book has to be on someone's bookshelf, on hold, for it to have a date in the "Last Posted" field?

I really don't know. I just know that the data is layered. I don't know enough about the history or structure.

The Last Posted was part of another update and the data is linked. Not quite sure how.

That's good to know Emily.  I order a lot of books for my 20 yo and she holds on to hers long after she reads them (so I uncheck them upon receipt) whereas I usually post mine right away.
