A wonderfully readable story of a woman from Manila, living in Sydney, who receives a mysterious letter from her mother urging her to return home because they must talk. A family story of several generations' secrets, with insights into Spanish, Chinese and Filipino cultures.

I spent 6 weeks in the Philippines over the past year and picked up this book while there. The book provided a lot of information about the Philippines and I really enjoyed reading it.
