Which are your favorites and why? I have whole bunch on my TBR shelf and don't know where to begin. I have already read Seperate Beds, Hummingbird, Morning Glory, Vows and BIttersweet and loved them all. I have The Endearment, The Forgiving, Twice Loved and The Fulfillment. What do you ladies suggest?

In this order I liked best......The Endearment, Twice Loved, Forgiving, The Fulfillment.  Fulfillment was not that great, imo but still good enough to read and get through.

My favorite is Morning Glory. But of the ones you listed I liked Twice Loved Best, then The Endearment then Forgiving.  I don't think I read Fulfillment.  Strange, because I thought I had read all of her books.

Morning Glory, Sweet Memories, Years, Family Blessings.  Why doesn't she just write a book every 3-5 years while in retirement?  I'm positive she has more stories to tell.  I miss her writing.

I liked The Endearment, Fulfillment, Years, then Forgiving.  I love her books. Everytime I opened her books I felt like I knew what I was going to be reading and it turned into something wonderful. You know you think your going to be reading about a mail order bride but it is so much more than that. Great author I wish there were more historicals by her since I have read them all.

I also really liked The Endearment. The Fulfillment was interesting.

I have been buying her books in LP.  I loved Morning Glory.  I am saving Hummingbird to read over the holidays.

Anyone read Separate Beds?

Loved Morning Glory - my all time fav from Lavyrle Spencer.

Next favorite is Family Blessings.

Both books had awesome well-rounded characters written around an out of the ordinary and heart tugging premise.  I rate books and movies by whether I need a box of tissues to mop up my tears - the more tissues the better the story!

Have you seen the movie Morning Glory with Christopher Reeve in it? I transfered some of my  book credits over to Swapadvd and got it . The movie didn't get to me the way the book did because a lot of the good stuff was internal. They also changed some things.  This thread makes me want to reread it again.

Thanks, Margaret, for the feedback on Separate Beds

Funny story:   The first book I swapped for here was Separate Beds.  My Partner looks at it and then at me and squints a little and says in a whisper, "this book swapping club isn't going to wreck our relationship, is it? You told me you were going to read Romances that would get you in the mood!".

I just read Seperate Beds last night.  It was really good, just a section that I really didn't care for near the end.  I won't get into what happened when I went to bed.. blush

Definitely Morning Glory for my top favorite - the movie wasn't bad, but as you said, so much is internal that without the author's voice telling you more about what is going on, you don't always get everything. (It practically needs thought bubbles over the actors heads) I read the book first anyway, so I could see the struggles. Christopher Reeve was such a good actor. I think if I don't set my expectations for movies-from-books too high, I enjoy them more!

Second favorite, That Camden Summer - another great beta hero and independent heroine. I have it on audio book.

I have never, never found Christopher Reeve attractive.  He just didn't do it for me.  One time he was in a movie with Christopher Plummer and they were having an affair behind CP's wife's back.  That was his most attractive roll to me.        ducking the tomatoes flying toward my head.....

It's okay Pamela, i never thought Christopher Reeve was attractive either, i always thought he had a strange looking nose for his face.

Yea both of the actors really didn't fit the decription of the characters. I mean Christopher Reeve is Superman not an undernourished shy excon type of  guy.

That is too bad about the movie.  Such a great story.  And for most romance books, would it hurt to use actors and actresses that look like the characters and are not popular or perfectly beautiful or handsome to the extreme - Like the characters in the book?  Yeesh!

That is one of the strengths of Romance stories.  It can happen to anyone!  You don't have to be Fabio to fall in love.  I would love to see a really great movie made of Morning Glory.  It is an story that would go over really well right now, I think.  Saying all this makes me want to reread the book.

I too would love to see a good depiction of Morning Glory on film. Renee Zellwigger as she appeared in Cold Mountain reminds me of Ellie. Strangely enough - I think Christian Bale would play a good Will. If you have seen how he appeared in the Machinist where he lost like 60 or more pounds to play the role - I think his looks would fit and then allow for him to fill out as he does in the book.
