I am just about done reading 'The Legend' by Kathleen Givens.  I just put the sequel 'The Prophecy' on my WL.  Does anyone know if it is as good as the first one??

Sorry. Can't help you. I haven't read either. I take it you liked the first one quite a bit.

Never heard of this; personally, I'd search online for reviews.  Put the title, author and the word "review" in your search terms.  Quite a few seemed to come up when I searched.  Try amazon & barnes & noble.

I think you mean The Destiny as the sequel.  I have both books in my TBR pile.  Sorry I won't be much help.

Yes, its  The Destiny and I have had it on my wish list for some time.  Its really hard to get a copy, because it is no longer in print, and you can't seem to buy it used any where for less than $20.  Which I love all her books, but I'm not about to pay that much for a used book.  So I've just been hoping that more poeple on here post it.  I've heard people say they like The Legend more, but I'd rather read it and judge for myself.

I've actually e-mailed Kathleen Givens and she has responded several times.  I asked her if there are any plans to reprint The Destiny, and she said as far as she knows there is not, but its up to her publisher.  And I don't know if you have read her book On A Highland Shore (loved it), but I was disappointed that the sequal was not about Nell and Davey as she had hinted it would be at the end of On a Highland Shore, but was instead the book Rivals For the Crown, which skipped a generation.  I also asked Ms. Givens why this was, and apparently she has had so many inquiries about this that she is actually in the process of writing the book that tells the stories of Nell and Davie.  So I was really excitied to here that!

But I really love her writing and attention to historical detail, and would reccomend trying any of her books.

Erika, I have The Destiny in my TBR pile.  I will check with you when I am ready to post it and see if you want it.

You are right, I was Destiny, not prophesy. I didn't realize it was out of print!! I finished Legend last night, it was very good.

I took your advice and looked it up on line. I am disappointed to read that she hasn't written a book for Duncan. I really liked his character.

Thanks for the tips everyone!!

Paige

Erika, would you PM me when you are done with it after Sherron contacts you??

ED--because i simply can't spell worth a darn.

Try your local library for out of print books, esp. if they have inter library loan.  I was able to get out of print "Winter Garden" through an inter-library loan program.  Can't buy it anywhere for less than $20-$30 or much more.

Hi Paige,

I will absolutely pass on any copy I can get a hold of.   Sharron was a great help in trying to locate some cheaper ones online.  On Kathleen Givens website, she has a contest right now and she is giving away a few copies.  So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that one : )

And I may be wrong, but I thought The Destiny was Duncan's story.  I hope so, because I really liked him too.
