Leo the Late Bloomer
Leo the Late Bloomer
Author: Robert Kraus
Leo isn’t reading, or writing, or drawing, or even speaking, and his father is concerned. But Leo’s mother isn’t. She knows her son will do all those things, and more, when he’s ready. ‘Reassuring for other late bloomers, this book is illustrated with beguiling pictures.’—Saturday Review.

One of the most beautifully illustrated books I've seen. Glorious pictures accompany a sweet story all too close to home for many of us. (The "unknown binding" is paperback.)

A terrific book if you have a late bloomer in any way -- talker, writer, drawer, etc, or a child who feels like s/he lags behind her peers. The illustrations are witty, beautiful, and not babyish. This is not a book that simply tries to make a child feel good about him or herself, but a book that celebrates the fact that many children are on their own developmental path, finding their own way in a world where those around them worry about not being "normal."
