Let me correct my question:  What is the name of the publishing company that Stephen King started to publish some of his own works (not Doubleday, Viking, etc), ie he is the publisher.

Laymon also wrote under the names Carl Laymon, and Carla Laymon.

Dan Simmons also writes science fiction.

In addition to my King question above, how about this one:   Laymon ghost-wrote a single title for a long running western series.  What was the title, and what was the house name he wrote it under?

Is Stephen King's publishing company, Philtrum Press?

For my question,

What was the name of the Shirley Jackson short story that caused an avalanche of  shocked and angered fan letters to  The New Yorker when it was published in 1948?

The Lottery

My question: what classic American horror story was made into an Academy Award winning short film that later aired as an episode of the Twilight Zone?

Vanessa - was it "An Occurance at Owl Creek?" I remember seeing it in high school and the ending blew me away.

Here's a 2-part question - In what Stephen King book did he name the school after a famous horror character? What's the name of the school?

I'll give a little hint then.  Early King book and the character is from a horror classic directed by Hitchcock.

For Dave's question above, Lovecraft's Arkham was based on the famous town of Salem, Mass.

The name of the high school is Bates High, a reference to Norman Bates of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960). The book is Carrie.

next question-

'Regulators' (penned by Richard Bachman), and 'Desperation' (by King), were released at the same time. The two books had a lot in common. What was the name of the entity who caused all
the trouble in each of these books?
