Ensminger served as a private and sergeant with the 158 Regiment-Militia Pennsylvania Infantry. Besides the text, the book includes photo copies of the original letters, unit rosters of field and staff officers, company reports, census reports, history of the 158th, maps, final will and testament, service and pension records, and photographs.
