I would say, those librarians tastes differ from mine pretty substantially. ;-) I did really enjoy Into the Wilderness--which includes some of the Outlander characters, incidentally--though stopped reading the sequels. I'm not big on long series like that.

I enjoyed Into the Wilderness but none of the sequels and eventually stopped. For the Roses was just not a good Julie Garwood book in my opinion.

For the Roses did not capture my attention so I didn't finish it nor did I read any of the sequels. Never heard of Into The Wilderness so I'll need to check that out. Thanks.

The only author on that list I've read anything by is Amanda Quick. I really like historical and regency romances. Are the other authors as good as AQ?

Julie Garwood is quite good despite my dislike of her For the Roses series. Some of my favs of her are The Lion's Lady, Castles, The Gift, Honour's Splendor, Guardian Angel. Christina Dodd is also good as is Mary Jo Putney. I'm not familiar with Sara Donati.

I've read 4 of those, but my opinions differ a little... The Paid companion was probably good, but I read it in the midst of a bunch of other Amanda Quick books that it blended in...all of them seemed to be alike, EXCEPT Mystique...that one was great!... I thought Come the Spring by Julie Garwood (the 5th book in the series) was better... The Barefoot Princess was good (that whole trilogy was good!), but I thought The Runaway Princess was better... I don't remember Captive of my Desires very well, I'll have to re-read that one:)
