Reading this book was the first time I've heard of the term meta consciousness. It's also the first time I've heard the term bardo, which describes the periods in between reincarnations that you review the previous life and plan the next one. It reminds me a little bit of what I've read in Sylvia Browne books. It's an interesting concept and can be comforting to think when you are having a hard time on earth that you planned it yourself as a learning lesson. It's comforting in the same way people believe God is testing you. It is a way of making sense of what's happening and to feel that you're not suffering needlessly. The hard part is figuring out what the lesson is supposed to be.

Written by two Canadian authors, one (Dr. Whitton) a practicing psychiatrist, Life Between Life actually concentrates more on interesting and revealing past lives of Dr. Whitton's case studies. Time after time, the authors show how people are helped with their present day problems thru recognition of past life traumas.

I found the book very informative and helped me question the ultimate question "Why am I living?--for what purpose?" How many of us just get frustrated by life on earth and begin to ask ourselves, "why am i even here? for what reason? because if there's a reason, i can't see it." Fisher & Whitten give you personal cases and basic understanding of complex terms like karma and the middle place called BARDO from the point of the views of the ancient peoples.

From the back cover blurb:

"I was floating in an all-embracing golden light....Even though I didn't have a body, I felt quite whole..."

"'There are other people there, and we can communicate without having to listen, without having to speak..."

"I am one with the universe. I am one with the stars and am very excited about being born..."

The ancient Tibetans called it "BARDO." Doctor Joel L.Whitton. metaphysical expert and researcher, calls it metaconsciousness. Its the wondrous state that occurs; after deathâ-the threshold of consciousness that separates one incarnation from another.

Based upon thirteen years of research and more than thirty medical case histories, and drawing on the revolutionary technique of hypnotic regression, Dr. Whitton and Joel Fisher himself an expert on reincarnation, take you back into the past lives of contemporary men and women. Here are the amazing stories of their subjectsâ who they were, how their past problems reach into their present, and what its like in that extraordinary time between lives. Offering a mind-expanding guide to the self-exploration of your own metaconsciousness and past lives, LIFE BETWEEN LIFE is an extraordinary adventure into the unknown.
