This book should be required reading for any potential first-time dog owner -- a wonderful treatise on just what life with a dog requires from them as an owner!

This is a charming book celebrating the author's dog, George, warts and all, and just how much joy and pain a little bundle of fur can bring into one's life. Most dog owners will recognize bits of themselves and their dogs in this book, as you laugh alongside the author at her incorrigible canine's behaviour.

Although the book is ultimately more about the writer and her relationships than George, it is,nonetheless,an enjoyable read. You can't help but fall in love with George, and if you have ever owned a Cav (I have 3) you will laugh yourself to tears at George's antics, recalling many similar experiences with your own dog(s). If you are looking for just a dog story, you may be disappointed, but if you enjoy good writing, wit, and an all-too-human woman who chronicles her life in tandem with the thoroughly "Cavalier," George, then I urge you to read this.
