I historically have done this. I do it manually and not a hardship as I have few friends. The last few times I tried it did not work and the book went fifo to the endless time outs. If so, I can just ask friend and if they want it do an exchange of credit.

Members can post directly to another member's WL regardless of membership tier.

Posting a wishlisted book and having the option to mail to a friend is a benefit of standard membership. But you can still post to a friend's bookshelf by going on their wishlist and posting it directly there. You might want to send a PM to make sure they have the credit as if they don't accept it will go FIFO.

If the friends  did not have a credit (which I doubt) would it not be on a 48 hours hold for them. When I have tried to post to a friend it immediately goes to someone else. Confused?

Could the friend have their account on hold without auto request? Or they could have clicked "Not Now". As others have said, you should be able to post it directly to them from their WL...remember tho, many people have things on their WL that they aren't sure they really want and they can decline the offer.

Is there a viewable wish list if an account is on hold? The redirection to fifo was instananeous. There was not even a moment to click now now. Still can not figure it out but have several I bought from bn and think I will try to pm for confirmation first. Guess if not wanted there I can see if it is auto on FIFO and if not just put it in the donate bag. No more patience ( or space) for the endless time outs.

Are you posting directly to the wishlist or are you going to the book's page (clicking on the book description from the friend's wishlist)?

From your description of what occurs, it sounds like you are leaving your friend's wishlist. Doublecheck the webpage you are on when you post that it has members webpage in the http:// address. When you post it should say do you want to post to "friend" .

Hope that helps.
