It would seem a good idea that I could list all of the books that I have on the shelf. The ones that I have to trade and ones that I have not read yet, but will read and later post for trade. Can that be done?

Well, you wouldn't want to put books on your shelf that you have not read yet, because once a request comes through you would need to send it within the time frame. Unless you will rush and read it when a request comes through? But you could post all your books, read and un-read, all for trade - I assume this is easier for you? Then if you check the box next to them, you can mark them as hold, until you read it. Then uncheck the hold books as you read them. It would keep your place in the FIFO (First In First Out) line.

You can post the books that you haven't read yet to your "To Be Read (TBR Pile)" list. When you are ready to list them for trading, you can post them directly from your TBR list.

Are you looking for  a way for people to see what you have so they might want to order more than one and to help you decide what to read next?

One thing  you can do is put the books on your TBR pile here and see which ones are WL. THen read a bunch of them and offer them in the WL threads in the genre forums and the Book Bazaar.  Or you can tag them with a personal tag-something like your nicknameTBR then put a link to it in your signature.

I created a book list for those paperbacks 'pending' for my Shelf. I don't know if any are WL or not as I add the books to my Bookshelf as I decide that I will list them; haven't had much time with all this snowy weather, then a head cold, to work on the pending list.

I'd rather put the books on this pending one as I can make the decision when to put them on the Shelf. I have a number of unread books on my Bookshelf so I do take the chance that I'll have to read them before mailing (like I had to do this week), and have ended up mailing out some books unread - so this pending list works much better for me.

If you sort your TBR pile or your shelf by Wish List, it will show you what books on your shelf are being waited for by other PBS members.  You could have all your books posted, and the unread ones on hold, and still find out what someone else wants that you have.  Hope this is a useful idea for you!

Nope. Books on individual hold do not keep their place in the FIFO line. When you unhold an individual book, it is posted as of that time.

When you hold and unhold your whole bookshelf, however, your books WILL keep their FIFO positions.

Thanks for all of the information, in the morning when I am not so sleepy I will read them so more. I think you have offered an answer to my question.

I wondered what the TBR was, how do I find it and post to it?

TBR is the "To Be Read" pile.  If you click the "My Account" tab, then click the "My Lists"  tab and you'll see the "TBR pile" where you can list your unread books.

Wait!  The bookshelf Hold does NOT keep your place in FIFO.  When you use it, you go to the back of the line.  When you unhold, you are at the end of the line.  The Wish LIst Hold keeps you in line.  The Bookshelf does not.

I imagine you could put your shelf on vacation hold, add your books, mark them as on hold, then come off vacation hold.

I frankly use the To Be Read listing.  Easy to post books from there.  No riisk of books being accidently posted.  When you are on the book detail page, it is one of the options under the More Options button.

There is also a way to import a list.  Book List Import Bookmark  You can import books to your TBR list.

I love my TBR, you have the info in there and then after you read the book one click and it is on your shelf.

I also prefer the TBR. I don't want any books on my Bookshelf until I'm ready to trade them.  To me they're just clutter there.  I dont' really see how it's a time saver and with them on the TBR there's no risk of accidentally holding or posting the wrong books.  I wish it showed how many copies were posted but I guess they don't because a lot of people would be discouraged and not post more heavily posted books.
