Mouse over "community" and click on Top 50s, you can click on the different tabs to see the top fifty requested books and the top fifty wished for books, among other things.

You can also see how many copies of a book are already in the system by placing it on your Reminder List.  In general super popular best sellers that are a year or two old have a gajillian copies in the system.

thanks!  from looking at the top 50 lists, it seems that the "wished for" list has more books that people want but that arent in the system.

am i interpreting this correctly?

Yes.  We can only add a book to our "wish list" if it is not currently available.  If there is an "order this book" button, then there is no button for adding it to our wish list.  So anything that's currently "wished for" will not be available.  When someone posts the book with that ISBN, it will be offered to the person who has been waiting in the WL line the longest, and everyone else will move up a notch.  When the last wish has been fulfilled, the next posted copy will be "available" with an "order this book button, and that ISBN will no longer be a wish list book.

It might be simplest for you to check the status of the books you wish to post.
