I have a Rush Hour 1-2-3 book that is about the movies, but my copy says "This edition is not intended for individual retail sale" and has no ISBN. Since the book has the same content as the one with an ISBN just with a different cover, I was wondering if I should use that ISBN to post it, use the no ISBN posting feature, or if I can't even list it.

Use the no ISBN feature. If you post it using the existing ISBN, you could be RWAP'd.

I don't even know what that means.

Schuylar you might want to take some time and browse the Help Center section on posting books. There is a lot of information there on what can be posted here, what condition it has to be in, and how to post books.

On PBS you are not allowed to post books to an ISBN unless to book has that ISBN printed on it. When you post books you will get a message on a couple different screens that tells you that ISBN, Title, Author and binding Type must match exactly . If you do post a book by an ISBN that it doesn't have, the member can mark it Received, with a Problem - Wrong book and ask for their credit back. Since you would have sent them a book other than the ISBN they requested, it would be the wrong book and you would need  to return the credit.

With your current book - if it is postable, then the only option would be to post it as a book without an ISBN. To figure out if you can post it at all, you need to try to figure out if it is a promotional final copy or it is a pre-release copy, often called an ARC, advance reader copy, uncorrected proof, or some other terminology indicating the book was not final when it was printed. If you cannot find anything that indicated it is an ARC, then it should be postable.

Hi Schulyar!  Yes you can post the book, but not under an ISBN not printed on the book.  Use Melanie's directions.

RWAP means received with a problem.  Since it doesn't have an ISBN, you can't post it in the system with an ISBN.  Do as the others have suggested.  Good luck!

Click on the link below the picture of the bar code on the Post Books page to post as if the book has no ISBN.

Sometimes, but not always.  I often get promotional copies from various publishing houses.  They aren't ARCs, they're the full finished copy.   They just aren't for retail sale so they don't have bar codes or ISBNs on the back.
