This is the first book in a children's series called "Billabong" about children living in the sheep raising area of Australia. It was first published in 1910, and this revised edition has an afterword about how life has changed in Australia since then, especially about the racism expressed in the original.
The main character is a young tomboy, 12 year-old Norah, and her adventures with her brother, his friends, their Aboriginal stable boy Billy and her father. I enjoyed the story, but do not feel any impulse to read the rest of the series.
