I received a book today with a tear on the front cover. Before I marked it received I checked the rules and they state a tear less than 1" is ok. Boo Hoo The tear is just under 1" but it involves some of the text and a part of a word is missing. I did list in the comment section about this issue. I am wondering if PBS actually considers comments put there. I feel jipped on this swap as I think even though the tear is in limits the resulting effect of the tear should make this unpostable. I can not repost this book and feel good about it. So I'll have to retire it. |

If the tear was under 1" then they probably won't pay much attention to it at all. I think the only time they look at those comments is if someone has a lot of complaints against them and they are reviewing the account.
I probably wouldn't repost it either if it wasn't a WL book. But I accept the fact that sometimes I will be the last one to pay a credit for some books. It even says in the help docs that sometimes you will be the one to retire a book from circulation and that should be accepted. If it was WL then I might offer it in the BB and aks a credit for it if the book was otherwise in good condition. |

one square inch can be missing completely from the cover and still be postable. Bookstores often cut off a corner to indicate a remainder book. That's postable too. If you feel better about it, then I guess you can retire the book, but if it were me, I would just apply some tape so the rip doesn't get worse and post it. JMO. |

Yep, unfortunately this is true. I once received a book with a stupid little triangle cut out of the front cover. |

You could also post it but pm the person before you print label and explain the problem, then they can decline if they want but you've let them know upfront so you don't have to feel guilty. Nancy |

I don't agree with posting and then PMing the person. If your book is postable, then post it. If it's not, in your opinion, then don't. If you send a postable book, then there is never a need to PM. You have met the site requirements and deserve your credit. |

Janice, what some people do is list the book in their signature line with a little blurb about what is wrong with the book. I've gotten rid of a few books this way. |
