I am looking for some romances (or erotica) that feature lock & key parties. I am curious about how this topic is dealt with by various authors. The only ones I have been able to find are three Blaze books--Slow Ride, Hard to Handle, and On the Loose. I have already added them to my reminder list. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks, Pam

I googled it cause I didn't know either:

what I found

Every female gets a lock and every male gets a key. You then have to find a lock that matches your key or vice versa. As you work around the lock and key party, you will meet many different people and trying one another's locks serves as a great ice breaker giving you the chance to meet a huge number of people. You never know, you may find the key to your heart.

Every time you find a match, simply return to the front desk to be issued another lock or key. You will also get a ticket that enters you into a drawing to win great prizes from our party sponsors. The more times you find a match, the more chances you have of winning a prize. Please dress to impress at these fun parties. Adults of all ages are welcome.

Is this it?

I think (not really sure, so someone correct me if I have it wrong) that they are parties where single men and women put their keys in a bowl when they arrive. When it's time to leave, each person picks a set of keys out of the bowl and each couple who has the other's keys are supposed to spend the rest of the night having sex with each other. I think it's an interesting concept. Not that I would ever do it, LOL! I am happily married to my DH. I just read a book synopsis about this and thought it sounded interesting. If I remember correctly, a while back I also came across a book or article or something about a group of married couples who did this as well. They ended up having a night of sex with their friends' husbands and wives. It was supposed to "spice" up their sex lives. Kind of like the open marriage concept.

Phyllis, that's interesting. It does sound like a unique way to break the ice at a party. Maybe the lock & key party I am thinking of refers more to erotica. I just don't know. I am going to order one of the books on my reminder list just to see which way it is protrayed. I will do an update when after I get the book. Thanks for your imput.

Update:

I found this on Wikipedia: Key parties, a phenomenon in the 1970s, were sex parties attended by couples in which the men would all throw their keys into a common bowl, then their wives would pick a key out of the bowl and go home with the man whose key it was.

Pamela, I've read  Slow Ride from the Blaze titles you listed above. The Lock & Key party in that book, actually in the other two as well because they're about 3 sisters who all attend the same party, is like the description Phyllis listed.

I rmember local bars doing "nut and bolt" parties, where each man was handed a different sized nut, and each woman got a bolt.  You wandered around until you found that pair that screwed onto each other.  IIRC - like most parties in bars, there are way more not-hots than hotties.

Those were (are) called Key Parties and were from the 70's, but it wasn't just singles that did it.  Swinging couples also were big into it.

ETA:  I see that Pam wiki'd it and posted the answer.  Sorry!  One reason to read all posts before answering,  :-)

Life imitating art again.  ;-)
