R.A. Salvatore is always a solid read, however this particular series doesn't stand up in quality to his earlier works. Recommended, but understand that this chapter in the Drizzt saga is full of massive character changes that, while interesting, draw attention from the Salvatore universe and its happenings.

Look, it's another Drizzt book! Seriously, these things have become something like a soap opera for me. I'm interested in them because (for whatever reason) I find the characters compelling, and I want to find out what happens next. This one has Drizzt off on his own, dealing with the emotional demons that haunt him, while the other companions are busily defending Mithral Hall.

But is there anything new here? Well, not really. The Drizzt angst is a little bit different, but not really all that refreshing. I guess I find other authors for my "new" fix.

This book had more great battle scenes; a great big explosion; giants throwing boulders; and lots and lots of orcs and dwarves. If that's what you like (I guess *I* do), then the book might be worth your time.
