I'm looking for a book of Christian/Gospel songs that's at least 25 (maybe closer to 30) years old, called "Faith, Hope, and Love."  It's a great collection of songs, but my dad has had the book for almost as long as I've been alive, so it's starting to fall apart.  I'd love to be able to replace it with a new copy (and it would be even better if I could find mulitple copies to give to my sybling).  But, even after I finally found the title page buried in a drawer (it had fallen off years ago), I can't find any reference to it online.  I don't even see online evidence of its existence, let alone any place to purchase it.  I've looked at other Christian songbooks, and some of them have many of the same songs, but I can't find one that has such a wide collection of all the songs that have been played in our house for the last 25 years.  So if anyone knows where I could find a copy of this book, I'd really appreciate the info.

Perhaps if you could include the names of all the songs in the book...that would be helpful.

Unfortunately, I don't have it with me, so I can't include a full list of song titles.  But before I found the cover page, I had tried searching for many of the song titles together, and I wasn't getting any results that way.  Now I have the name of the book, but still can't find anywhere that has copies of a 30-year-old songbook.

If you find the title page again, look and see if you can find the publisher.  That would be a good place to start.

Yeah, I don't remember now what the publisher's name was.  But I did a search for that, too, and it seems that the company is no longer in business.  The only results I got from the search was a variety of other books published by the same company.

I hope that is the one you are looking for Chris.  If not, see if there is an ISBN on the title page you have and search by that perhaps on Amazon as well as Christianbook.com

I think that you are going to have to give us some more info Chris.  The one Cozi pulled up is contemporary arrangements by Hillsong Church in Australia.  From your description, I'm guessing it is more towards Southern Gospel?

Unfortunately, the one Cozi found is not the one I'm looking for.  Thanks for looking for it, though.

The one I'm looking for has a lot of songs, and as Cynthia suggests, it's older songs; things like "Because He Lives," "The World Didn't Give it to Me," "He Could Have Called 10,000 Angles," and a lot of other good ones that I can't remember right now.

was it associated with a particular church? I know my mom used to have a bunch of older songbooks but they were falling apart even when I was a kid 40 something years ago! I know the Methodist church I went to as a young kid/teenager had a couple they used for special stuff but this title just doesn't ring a bell.

Did it have shaped-notes?  The Stamps Baxter music company published lots and lots of hymn books, but those are REALLY vintage and they had shaped-notes.  I don't think "Because He Lives" is quite that old!  If this book was from the '60s and '70's it might have been one by "Singspiration."  I've done a google search for that and don't see the "Faith, Hope, and Love" title right now.  Or, maybe it was one of the Gaither's books?

As far as I know, it wasn't associated with a particular church.  I know for sure that it doesn't have shaped-notes.  I Googled and found out that "Because He Lives" was written in 1970, which makes sense, because this book was from the last 70s or very early 80s.  (I think my dad has had it since 1982 or 1983.)  It had several Gaither songs, but it wasn't exclusively a Gaither book.

I appreciate all of your help, but it doesn't seem like we're getting much closer.  I guess my dad will just have to continue to make do with the old, worn copy he has.

Just a thought. Is there any way you can either scan or type up the pages or print these song from the internet & bind them for your dad?

Back home, and playing and singing music from this book had me wishing I could find a better copy again. I guess it isn't a title page that I found, so unfortunately, no ISBN. It's a contents page, though, which has a lot of the other information:

Faith, Hope & Love

Complied and Edited by Fred Bock

The Big 3 Music Corporation

A search for the publisher finds some other old music books on sites like Amazon, but not this one. There is no web site I can find for the publisher, so apparently they're no longer in business. I found a web site for Fred Bock, but no mention of this book. So, still unlikely that anyone will know where to find a copy, but if you do, I'd really appreciate it!

I think that's it. Thank you so much! You're apparently better at the Google than I am, because I thought I had searched every possible combination of name, title, publisher, etc., and I had never found anything. Thanks, Tina! I'm going to go order it right now. Looks like I've got one Christmas present done early.

Got the first of the used copies of this book that I ordered thanks to Tina's link. It is, indeed, the exact book I was looking for. Thanks again, Tina. I'll be able to replace my dad's book with a less-worn copy, and I also decided to order extra copies so that my brothers and sister can each have their own copy, too. I'm already looking forward to Christmas, when I'll have everyone open them at the same time, and get to see the looks on everyone's faces.

May be silly of me, but I am soooo excited for you that the book you desired has been found. I know how things like this can mean so much from our childhoods or when associated with good memories.

Not silly at all, Pat. You can't imagine how thrilled I was when I found the link Tina provided was actually what I was looking for, and that there were used copies (in better shape than the one my dad has) available at a reasonable price. I've already mentioned it, but I'm really excited about giving these to all of my family members, so that we can each have our own copy. I can't wait to see the looks on all their faces when the song book that my brother and I have been looking for for months is in their hands on Christmas morning.
