I love all the books written by J.A. Jance. She writes so you feel you are in the story. The settings around the Seattle area are great because they give you a sense of where you are if you are familiar with the area at all. Highly recommend all of the books I have read of hers so far.

J.P. Beaumont, otherwise known as "Beau" is on the "SHIT" squad and works for the Washington State Attorney, which means, in a nutshell, he can do what he wants and go where he feels like it. Once he sinks his teeth into a crime, he doesn't let go easily and this story is no exception. A child witnesses a brutal murder of a friend. After repressing the memories, it all comes back out, much to the angst of the perpetrators, who have spanned 50 years! Through twists and turns, and a few surprises along the way, Beau, of course, is the hero of the day. J.A. Jance hits another one out of the ball field!
