Accompanied by his dog, J.E.B. Stuart, Parker Quiney and a companion named Nate Graber set off. Their first day out, however, they are detained by a gospel shark, as an evangelist was called, who tries to send the boys to an orphanage. Then a Mexican witch and her professor husband force them to join their medicine show. The colorful characters Parker and Nate meet along the way usually give them trouble, but sometimes they are helpful. In fact, without the friendship of an aging outlaw, the Tonkawa Kid, the trip might never have been completed at all.
