I sent 2 books to a member with an APO address, in Germany.   The books are on there way there.   I checked her profile today, and it says that she is no longer a member!   Am I now out the books, I've sent, as well as the 2 credits I was supposed to receive, when they arrived?   I was unable to purchase electronic postage for that address.

Do I have any recourse?

When the books go lost, the system will give you your credits back because the person is no longer a member.  At least, that is my understanding of how things work when someone leaves the group with books in the mail.

When you send a book and have not used Quick Credit, the Requestor must click "Was the Book Recieved" button. If she is no longer a member, she cannot click this button. When the system times out, the books will be considered Lost In Mail, and you will get your credits back then.

If you send a book to an inactive or closed account, then the system will automatically mark it received (not lost) on the system action date and you will get your credit then. If a book you sent is marked lost, then you will not get the credit back.

If your book is marked lost in the mail and you believe the other member is no longer an account holder, then you should send a feedback to R&R using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the screen. You should not do this before the system action date for that request.

I sent a book out just last week and the member's account is inactive, but I haven't recieved my credit yet. The other book I sent out at the same time was recieved last week, but no word on this inactive one... I really need that credit!

Kris, the book will go lost in 26 days. If the member has not checked in by then, you will get it back then. It's no longer wait than you would normally have should the PO take the longest time that Media Mail can often take, which is up to four wks. If you've never had to wait four wks, count yourself lucky. They've been doing really well lately, but I've waited that long many times over the last two years.

Yeah, if they had been sent Media Mail I wouldn't mind, but both books were sent First Class because of an incompetent postal worker who stuck postage on them, then said "Ooops, sorry" when I told him I'd wanted media mail. So the book has definately been recieved by now, and I hope I get that credit soon, seeing as they are very rare for me!

Did you have Media Mail written on your pkgs, Kris? If you have that on the pkg, then "Ooops" is not an acceptable answer. Ask for the Postmaster if they try it again.

Yeah, it's most likely that they've been rec'd then, but unfortunately if the account is closed you won't get your credit until the 26th day.
