Disguises herself as a boy and meets the hero while in the disguise. I prefer it to be a historical but don't mind what period of history other then that. Thanks!!!!

Ashes in the Wind by  Kathleen E. Woodiwiss (1981)  I read this a long time ago and it stuck with me.

Lady Rogue by Suzanne Enoch, though I didn't care for it.  The Corinthian by Georgette Heyer - he realizes right away she's not a boy though.

Johanna Lindsey's Gentle Rogue comes to mind. There is also a Virginia Henley where this occurs. I think it's Seduced.

An excellent one is Teller of Tales by Laurel Ames  (a Harlequin Historical from 1993, but a very intense story, not lightweight).  I think it was in a review at Dear Author that this was described as the story Pam Rosenthal's Almost A Gentleman tried to be.  Personally, I agree.

And don't forget The Masqueraders by Georgette Heyer.  It takes him a while to figure out he is a she.
