It kept me hooked, but, in the end, I don't think I liked it very much. The "evil" character came across as too flat, too unbelievable, and the plot bounced off of a dozen clichés.

Overall, I liked the main character, and the author's writing style and descriptionthere was a part in the middle that described a plastic bag skirting over a sheet of ice like a "tired ghost"but the plot lacked substance.

It was too shallow to really be worth keeping.

I read this book because it was being compared to every author and book I have only the highest opinions for. But I was very disappointed after reading it. It certainly can't be compared to Amelia Atwater-Rhodes or the book "Blood and Chocolate." No, this book was very stereotypical of vampires and didn't really stand out from your average, non-outstanding vampire story. I felt as if I had read this story already a hundred times in all of the different vampire books I've read. Nothing new.

From back cover - I lay awake a long time trying to sort out my feelings. As much as Vincent fascinated me, he made me uneasy. More than once I'd caught him looking at me with an intensity I didn't understand. His eyes were dark, unreadable - did he find me attractive or simply amusing" It was hard to imagine a man his age being interested in me, yet I could have sworn something intangible quivered in the air between us, a knowledge, a familiarity, a scary sense of destiny fulfilled.

The book creeped me out...the grown man vampire preying on the little brother was a bit much for me. That and the story was just rather boring.

Creepy is a good word to describe this novel. Very creepy. Basically, young girl falls in love with older man then older man uses the young girl's naivete to get what he wants with a few twists along the way.
