I read it many years agoand was telling  a friend about it , she'd like to read it but i can't remember the title or auther.  It was one of those little white book (Harliquin or Shilouette can't remember) published in the early to mid 90s. Its main plot was about a man and woman who fell in love but the woman was a litttle mentaly challenged and friends and family didn't think they should marry. Sorry I can't remember more, thanks for all your help!

Do you remember if it was a historical or contemporary? I did a quick Google search to look and it seems this shows up in both kinds. All About Romance has a list for this, of course. :) http://www.likesbooks.com/disabled.html The wonderful thing is that you remember the decade, and they do list the year there after the title. They give a little description, too. Very little, but you might find it helpful.

The only one I can think of had a couple as the secondary romance in the book.  The girl was a little slow and protected by the family and not really encouraged to try to do things.  The man worked in their stable and was a Viet Nam vet who had lost a leg.  Laura Jane and Steve. Does that sound familiar at all?  The book was Bittersweet Rain by Erin St. Claire, later republished under her other name, Sandra Brown.

I kept that book because the secondary romance appealed to me so much.  Hated the primary couple.
