I haven't read a lot of fantasy but I would like to read more! I especially liked all the David Eddings books I read (and I think I've read them all).

Would someone please give me some suggestions of authors or books I might like if I liked the Eddings books? Of course I like Tolkien as well.

Thanks in advance!

This is my husband's area of expertise, so I asked him (as David Eddings is his favorite author). Assuming you've read the Belgariad, Mallorean, Tamuli, Elenium and Dreamers series from Eddings, other similar writers to try are:

Terry Goodkind (Sword of Truth series),

Anne McCaffrey (Pern series)

Terry Brooks (Shannara)

Raymond E Feist (Riftwar saga)

R. A. Salvatore (Drizzt )

Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time)

Melanie Rawn (Exiles, Dragon Prince and Dragon Star series)

That should keep you busy for a while as there are multiple books in each series, they are all on my husband's keepers list. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions .....

Elizabeth Haydon (1st book Rhapsody, forget the series name)

Robin Hobb's Farseer and Tawny Man trilogies (her liveship traders trilogy is good too)

George R.R. Martin Song of Ice and Fire series

Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman

Tad Williams Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn series
