Hi all,

I'm looking for suggestions for my daughter. She is 15 and pretty mature for her age. She is not a big reader, but wants something to read during down time at school.  She wants a "sappy" love story. She does NOT like anything paranormal, supernatural or fantasy. ( I don't know  how this happened, I love that stuff!) She would prefer a modern day setting.

She read the Notebook and loved it. She also loved Twilight, but didn't read the other books because of the paranormal angle. Seems like most everything these days is paranormal or dark fantasy. Regular romance novels are a bit too graphic these days for a 15 year old. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks!

Tracy

I have a fifteen year old sister who loves sappy books.  She goes for Sara Zarr and Sarah Dessen.  I've read Sarah Dessen and recommend This Lullaby.

I really liked Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols and Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson.  One Night That Changes Everything by Lauren Barnholdt is good.  Anything by Simone Elkeles is good, especially Perfect Chemistry.

The Simon Romantic Comedies are generally fun.  They're short - like 200-250 pages and they're all romance.  I really like The Boys Next Door, but a lot are good.

Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg doesn't sound like it would be a sappy love story--but it is.  And I thought it was very good.  laugh
