Like Dick and Jane. We are pretty tired of those kids though. I just requested a book from Pathway Publishers "More Days Go By".  I am finding the books from the 30's, 40's and 50's are easier for my daughter to catch on. I am not wanting collectibles. Our Dick and Jane is a remake.  Want something that will hold up to children reading on their own if they wish.

Check out "Alice and Jerry" reader books. I loved them when I was in elementary school.. They're from the 1930's to 1950's.

Here's the Amazon link:

Good luck,

You might want to consider Rod N staff also.  My daughter is going on 9 and loves to read and I have a found Rod N staff's story books the only wholesome books so far. http://www.rodandstaffbooks.com/list/Christian_Storybooks/

I will also check out the ALice and jerry books though.  Always looking for more wholesome books.
