If you have a tight, clean copy of "The New New Thing" by Michael Lewis, "The Year of Magical Thinking" by Joan Didion or "Wait Till Next Year" by Doris Kearns Goodwin and have it posted on your bookshelf, please let me know. I'm having trouble finding copies in good condition through the tradtional requesting process. I will happily buddy you the credit in exchange for your copy. I'm not trying to jump anyone in line--there is no wait list for any of these titles. I just want to get decent copies of them. |

Sorry, I should have been more specific in my initial post--I'm looking for paperback copies of each book, not hardcovers.

i'm only doing this b/c it's already at the top but according to the rules of this forum (2) Members may "bump" their (maximum 2) topics a maximum of once a day (bumping = posting a new post in a topic for the purpose of keeping the topic on the front page of the forum topic list). Adding a new post with new information is not considered bumping. If you edit your original post to update information there, this will not "bump" the topic. |

I'm a newbie and confused. How do you know what sort of copy you'll get doing the regular site request? I thought everything was FIFO, none of the titles I've browsed listed any specific condition. What's wrong with a copy that meets PBS guidelines? |

Hi Kristine, How do you know what sort of copy you'll get doing the regular site request? You should get a copy that is postable according to PBS guidelines. That could range from a like new book to a ex-library copy that has passed thru many hands. But it should match the condition guidelines. I thought everything was FIFO, none of the titles I've browsed listed any specific condition. Yup, that's how the site works. You do not know the specific condition of the copy of the book you are requesting thru FIFO. What's wrong with a copy that meets PBS guidelines? Dunno. The OP must want a nicer copy for some reason, than the one he may get from FIFO. This isn't against the rules, as long as he is not asking for a Wish Listed book. People want particular copies of books for all kinds of different reasons. Welcome to PBS! |
