I have been a member since July 07 and have recieved 21 books.  I have also had 2 books that I ordered marked as lost in the mail.   This seem unusal to me.   All of the books I have sent got to the reader.  Has any one else had that problem?  I am concerned that PBS will think that I have recieved the books and didn't report that I got them.  I promise that I would not do that, I mark them as soon as I get a book in the mail.  My credits are important to me and I know they are to the person who sent me the book.  What is the policy of PBS about lost books.

HI Susan,

I have been a member for a bit over 2 years and have completed about 335 transactions coming and going, of those I have 2 lost in the mail that I sent and 1 lost in the mail to me. Now I am sure I sent those books to the correct address for the members who ordered them, in a timely fashion, with the right postage, wrapped well enough to make it safely. So my point is, the USPS loses stuff. Seems almost amazing that they dont lose more considering all the mail coming and going at the same time. Dont worry too much about yours, I can not speak for them but I bet they dont think that you are doing anything but what you are supposed to do. And if they do show up, you can still mark them received, and the other members will get their credit then. I think the reason there is even a category for this here on PBS is because they know that it is a possibility.

Edited to make sense!

I wouldn't worry about it.  Unless you start getting a high amount of lost books, you won't have a problem. It happens sometimes.  How "lost" are they. PBS recommends waiting 2 weeks before reordering lost books. Since media mail is sent on a space available basis, some times it can take 5 or 6 wks to receive them.  Did you PM the sender or check to see if they are still an active account?  You can do this by going into your transaction archive and PMing the person.  Click on their name and it should take you to their shelf.  If the books arrive, go into your transaction archive to mark them received. Be sure to note the postmark date. If this person is a chronic late mailer, then PBS needs to have a record of this.
