I am wondering if anyone has gone through periods of time where ther have been more books than usual lost in the mail. In the past 11 months I have received 230 books. The first 6-7 months I did not have a single book enroute to me lost. However, in the last couple of months there have been 4. My letter carrier looks out for me and says from his end everything seems to be in order. I have PM'd the senders and only heard back from one. Do you think this is a normal numrber of lost books considering media mail is 3rd class mail and not handled the same way other mailings are? (I sometimes receive as many as 10 books in a week.) Thank you for any input.

I've had 3 go lost. 2 happened very close together and then 1 was just last week. I am expecting that one though because it's coming form the US Virgin Islands.

I've received more than 350 books and of those, I have received 1 empty package (all ripped up, 3 books lost), one partially empty package (ripped up but 1 of 2 books still in it), and one "lost" package (suspect it wasn't mailed for various reasons).

At least I know for sure what happened to 2 out of my 3 lost packages ... scotch tape!

I've received about 175 books and have never had one lost.  One was never sent, but that's a whole different story.

I have one book coming to me that is about to go lost.  That will be the first sent/received lost book for me.  Unfortunately, its one of those WL books that cycled through 4 different people not responding or cancelling.  Then it finally gets mailed (marked anyways) and it hasn't shown up!

I just received a pm from a member whose book that she sent to me went lost at the end of September. She told me that she finally received the book! I can't remember if she filled out a search form or not. Anyway, I was shocked and happy that she finally did get it back. It was the very first time that I've ever had that happen before. Plus, her copy is the only one in the PBS system so of course I told her I want it!

None of my books have ever gone lost, but now I am getting a little worried about one that I sent on October 13th. I sent another book the same day and that member received their book last Thursday. The book that I'm getting worried about was a large and very heavy book. I placed it in a nice box and taped it very well. I'm hoping that it still shows up. We'll just have to wait and see.

The last book I received went lost, but 3 days later it arrived in my mailbox, so I was able to go to my transaction archive and mark it received.  That was my first lost book and happily it was found.
