About exactly a week ago, I got a request for a book (Words and Things by Roger Brown, unread book, 1958. I have lots of stuff like left over from when I was on textbook committees and could literally get anything I wanted from Publishers reps). I knew where it was, still didn't say I could send it until I put it in my hands. I searched for the book everywhere it was supposed to be three times, places where it was not supposed to be twice. I knew I had seen the book  in  the last two months. Spent over 5 hours looking for it. An hour before I had to mail it or something, I cancelled the order.

While looking for books ordered this weekend, (Never thought anyone would want that Henry James) there that rascal was. On the bottom of box, just the box it was supposed to be in all the time.

Whereas I never printed out the PBS address thing, I don't know who ordered it. How can I dredge up this information?

When you cancelled it, that request was passed on to the next person with the book so that requester will be getting it from someone else. If there were no other copies, just repost it and the requester may see it is available and request again.

eta: It should be in your Transaction Archive if you wanted to PM them to see if they got a copy from someone else.

If you accepted the request and then cancelled it, it will be in your TA.  If you declined because you couldn't find it then it won't be in your TA. If it was the only copy then it would have gone on their WL.  So if there's a short WL and it's not a common book, chances are good that their the 1st person in line.

If you declined because you couldn't find it then it won't be in your TA. - These do show up in the TA, the only thing that doesn't is a transaction where RCs were denied. I definitely have them in my TA, they look like this:

Request Date: 6/7/2010 12:14 AM ET
Date Canceled: 6/7/2010 10:06 AM ET

With no Acceptance Date or Mailing Date. If you aren't seeing it, you can resort by Requested From Me and Cancelled by Sender and it should narrow the search field considerably.
